Will I lose my steering wheel controls

I have a 2001 Nissan Maxima and I want to get an aftermarket head unit, stereo unit, for my car. I have controlls on the steering wheel for volume, and next track ect. I was wondering if I install an aftermarket head unit, will I lose those controls? Or will I still be able to turn up the volume and such from the steering wheel? If not, do I need any parts to make it work?

Yes you will lose control with the steering wheel if you change head units. You will also lose control of your temp/MPG etc if equipped. You can buy a piggy back at crutchfield for $80 that will allow these controls to keep working
