How do you properly perform a service on a 2007 Nissan Maxima CVT transmission start to finish?

There are two ways this can be done. First is a power flush. This needs to be done by a shop that has the machine to do it. What they do is disconnect the cooling lines from the transmission and connect them to the transfer machine. While the machine is removing all of the old fluid, it is replacing all of it with new. This is the only way to get all of the old ATF out of the trans.

If you want to do a basic filter / pan service, remove the trans pan. Do it slowly or the fluid will all come out at once and make a mess. Once removed, the filter is then accessable. Remove it and replace it with a new one, clean all old gasket material from the trans and the pan, and then reinstall the pan.

Once the pan is reinstalled, then you will refill the fluid. You will be adding aprox 3+ qts of new fluid which is about 1/4 of the total amount in the transmission.

Let me know if you have other questions or need additional help.
