My 2001 nissan maxima has 88,000 miles on it. It turns over but to get it going I have to keep the idle above 1000 RPM's when the actual idle is around 500 RPM's. My car runs fine on the road at anything above 1000 rpm but will die when it falls below that. What can I do?

is the mil on or your car start and die. if you have a mil on you should bring your car to dealership to get scan and maybe your mass airflow sensor is going out .check for possible dammage on your air dack or possible crack.
