I am now having a stating issue with my 1999 Nissan Maxima.

Back in Sept 2008 my car died while driving. The radio powered down, lights dimmed, engine began running rough, then stopped running and wouldn’t start. I ended up replacing the battery and then the alternator, which appeared to fix the problem.

Then in Oct 2009, the warning lights, (indicating a charging system failure), came on periodically. After bringing it into the shop, they determined that the alternator was bad again, which they replaced under the parts warranty. Again it appeared resolve the problem

Again in Sept 2010 the warning lights, (indicating a charging system failure), began to turn on periodically. I brought the car back to the shop and it was determined that alternator had failed again. This time is was okay for a couple weeks, and then the charging system failure warning lights came on again. I brought the car back to the shop, they checked it out and could not find a problem.

The car was driven for two days and then sat for four. Upon trying to start the car, it turned over, fired then died right away. Immediately trying again, it turned over a few times but would not start or fire. On the third attempt it just clicked when if turned the key. I tried a battery starter pack and it would not turn over. I then tried to jump start it from another vehicle, with the same result, it would not turn over. I put in a new battery and it would not turn over. I tried the Maxima battery in my other car, and it worked fine in that car, so I am sure that the battery is not the issue.

Do you have any suggestions as to what the problem(s) might be?
