I have a slight grinding noise coming from the pulley side of the engine. I got the vehicle up on some front ramps and tried to listen to what was vibrating. I at first thought something in the engine itself. But with a wierd hunch I turned on the a/c. And the noise was gone. But when you turned the a/c off the noise comes back. A little side note- the belt looks to be a little worn and has squealed a few times when I start it.

Hi porthos1 and TY for the donation

Try replacing the AC belt and tension it properly if it continues could be the magnetic clutch/compressor. Do this remove the belt and see what happens-compressor is not turning-shouldn't make no noise but when belt is on and compressor engages

the only problem is that belt also does the alternator too. If removing it wont hurt either I can do it. I am wondering why it makes noise though when not in ac mode. I aprreciated your answer.

Noise from the compressor usually means the compressor is on its way out. But noise can also be caused by cross-contaminated refrigerant (operating pressure too high), air in the system or the wrong type of compressor lubricant.

Noise can also be caused by hoses or other parts rattling against other components in the engine compartment. Check the routing of the hoses, support brackets, etc., to pinpoint the noise.
