On my 95 nissan maxima, 2 of the 3 brake lights will not work. When the headlights are off, only one brake light works. When the headlights are turned on, the other rear light will come on but none of the brake light bulbs will come on. Ive replaced the brake switch, and checked fuse and bulbs.

so I only have one brake light that works when I dont use the headlights. Also this problem came about after having to take my car back to a mechanic who had replaced my rack and pinion but left me with an up-side-down steering wheel and no horn or cruise control.

Hi thejets,

If one brake light works, the other two should work, they are on the same parallel circuit.

Checck the bulbs again, are you sure they are the correct type? It should be a double filament type. Check the contacts if they are the plug in type.
