1990 Nissan Maxima 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I have just purchased this vehicle and when I start it there is smoke comming from the exhaust and it smells like gas real bad. I checked the oil dipstick and there is a very strong gas smell from the oil. What could be the problem and is it worth fixing?

Hi there,

This may just be a case of very dirty oil, I would do an engine flush with a quality flushing agent, change the filter as well and monitor the oil over the next week or so, let me know what you find.
