I have a 1992 Nissan Altima, it has about 150,000+ miles. It is an automatic. My car dies when it is at a red light or when it is not in motion. Right before the car dies, the rpm gauge goes crazy. What do I need to do.

I have a 1997 Nissan Altima (150,000 miles) doing the EXACT same thing. I have had it de-carboned, I have had the distributor replaced and tonight we are going to replace the fuel filter. Please let me know if you or anyone else has any other suggestions and when if I get it fixed I'll let you know.

Other suggestions I have heard are the belt tensioner, fuel pump, and the "I-don't-really-know".

Thanks

Have the EGR system check-that checks out-have the fuel pressure check
