I saw on the forum someone else has this same problem with the same year car. Four days ago I had my Nissan Altima "repaired" for oil. I have been going through oil by about 2 quarts a week but there are no oil drippings on my garage floor, and no smoke shooting out the back on ignition or driving acceleration. The repair done was for the oil sensor (oil sender?) But in four days I'm almost out of oil again.

Hi there,

Thank you for the donation.

There is only two ways that the engine can use oil, external leaks and burning, this is a lot of oil to be using, if it was an external leak it would be dripping of the engine, if this is not the case it is burning it, but for such large quantities to be burning there would be evidence of smoking, check both these items and let me know what you see, also what grade oil are you using and is it mineral or synth?

I had the same problem with mine and it was leaking out of the valve cover but not getting to the ground because it was laying on the frame.

You are going to have to do your own homework.
But.
In the early 2000's the cat's had a problem of coming apart and destroying the engines in the 2.4 altimas.

Nissan replaced the engines for free as part of a recall.

Good luck
