2002 Nissan Altima 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 120k miles

Hi, I have a 2002 Nissan Altima. Earlier tonight I went to start it and it gave me trouble. It turned over but wouldn't start for about a minute or so. The starter and ignition appear fine. After a few minutes of driving the car sputtered, died and wouldn't start again. Is this some sort of fuel line issue? Fuel pump? PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE tell me this is not hard or expensive to fix!

Since it wont start, I would check fuel pressure, and spark.

If you got fuel pressure no spark, is not the fuel pump!

Hi, you just gave me a response to my question about my Nissan Altima and said to check the fuel pressure. How do I do that?

You will need a fuel pressure check guage, attach to fuel rail, turn the key to on, you should hear the pumps turn on for a few seconds and the pressure on the guage go up.

To check for spark you use a spark tester not a spark plug grounded out, you will get a better result, spark should be bright blue and well defined when cranked, not orange and dull.
