Engine cranked but failed to start. The battery ultimately died and was replaced. Car started and ran fine for 3 days but now the new battery seems to be dead. Engine will not crank and interior lights are very dim. I assume the alternator needs to be replaced. Any suggestiins before I replace?

Can I test the alternator w/o the engine running?
