A year ago my power window on the driver's side started acting up, rolling half-way up, then after a pause rolling up completely. One day it was stuck on the open position and I had to run a wire from the battery to power the motor to completely rollup. It is now stuck in the up position. I tried to replace the Master window switch, but that didn't work. Except for the Driver's window, the power locks, and other windows works from the master switch. What could it be? Also, is the driver's window locked in the up position a criteria for failing the Virginia State Safety Inspection? Thanks

Replace the motor. As far as I know, window position has nothing to do with passing/failing a state inspection.

12. – INSPECT WINDSHIELD AND OTHER GLASS FOR:

-Approved type safety glass.
-Cloudiness, distortion or other obstruction to vision.
-Cracked, scratched or broken glass.
-Stickers. ALL UNAUTHORIZED STICKERS MUST BE REMOVED.
-Sunshading material attached to the windshield to ensure it does not extend more than 3 inches downward from the top of windshield, unless authorized by Medical Waiver Certificate.
-Operation of left front door glass.

Hmm... I stand corrected. I guess you do have to replace the p/w motor, then.

I've replaced the motor, but, it didn't take care of the problem. The status now is: new motor, new master switch, window is stuck in up position, no blown fuses. Getting ready to bring altima to dealership and spend the big bucks... Last chance...
Anyone else have any ideas? Thanks

Wiring will be the last thing to check.
