Lights for both my emergency brake and mybattery came on when I started the car a couple hours ago to run a quick errand. I stopped and checked the emergency brake and it was working fine, but the light stayed on. I checked the battery posts, and they were clean. The car seems to run fine, I don't know what it is.

I believe you should get your alternator replaced (battery light comes on any time your car is running on battery power only)

the "Brake" light is not just for your emergency brake, it can come on when something in the braking system can go wrong as well.
