1999 Nissan Altima

1999 Nissan Altima 4 cyl Automatic 126000 miles

I have a 99 nissam altima with 126,000 miles on it. sometime sit seems i have to press really hard on the gas pedal to go fast. Also after I brake for a while (about 2 mins or so at a light) and it comes time to accelerate I put my foot on the gas pedal and it seems to get stuck for a minute and them im able to push down really hard to accelerate. what could this problem be?

This may sound obvious, but look at the floor where your gas pedal is. Many cars end up with the floor mat pushed up under the pedal and stop the pedal from going easily to the floor. Make sure the mat is pulled back and try driving it again.

Other wise you have a binding throttle cable which connects the pedal to the engine that will require replacement.

Good luck,

Thank you so much for your reply. That is what the mechanic also suggested.
