I have a problem with my 1997 Nissan Altima with 114,000 miles. For the last few months, my car has had a problem with acceleration and cruising. The only way I can describe it is I keep needing to push the gas pedal further and the RPMs keep increasing. Last year when I didnt have a problem, rarely would my car at any speed break 3,000 RPM, now my car routinely breaks 4,000 RPM just to accelerate. I haven't had a chance to get it checked out and problem is progressively worsening.

lack of fuel pressure could cause this. is the check engine light on? when was the last tune up? also a restricted cat converter can cause this. double check the transmission fluid level to be sure its not the transmission slipping.
