Hi guys,

I got this weird stalling problem. One evening, I was about to merge onto a highway on-ramp and the car seemed to have lost its acceleration power when I pressed the pedal. Then the all the lights on the dashboard came on and it turned off. I pulled over to the shoulder quickly for safety as there was traffic behind.

I tried starting it and it came ON as if nothing had happened. But I was not confident enough to drive it. I towed it to a nearby mechanic shop. He diagnosed it for a day, to come with nothing! He could not recreate it at all.

I drove it to my place this time and gave to another mechanic with the same story. There were many theories like fuel filter change, low transmission fluid level engine coolant, etc. In the end he could never see the problem as well. We concluded that the problem has fixed itself !

Today, I was just filling gas and when I started it, the car stalled at the pump. After two attempts, it started like magic, but with the Engine Check Light ON.

My friend seems to think it is an electrical problem of some kind.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Thank you very much,
Shankar.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. I got the code checked, to find out that the "Camshaft Sensor" has failed.

The mechanic suggests that it could be due to a Ignition Distributor which is a non-Nissan part. We are out to change it.

Please give me your thoughts on this.

Thank you.
