I have a 1994 Nissan Altima 5 speed. it has roughly 200,000 miles on it. The car slowly started losing power. It has NEVER overheated one time and all at the same time started giving me multiple different problems.
1. the mechanic says i have loss of compression cylinder one.
2. the brake light switch went bad and the brakelights stayed in the on position.
3. The battery died and barely hold a charge.
4. One of the spark plugs had oil on it.
This car has been maintained regularly and isnt driven roughly. it had the same owner who logged every mechanical thing done to it. Where do i need to start and what should i try to do to get it up and going again!! i miss my nissan!!!!!! :(

number 1 and 4 are probably related.
If you have lost compression in that cylinder to the point that it is no longer firing. Then yes, you have lost 25% of the power your engine makes.

The engine will most likely need to be rebuilt. depending on what is causing the loss of compression.
