Hi guys Thanks for your time. I have trouble removing the harmonic balancer without using shop air and an impact gun. How do I keep the crankshaft from spinning while loosening the center harmonic balancer nut? It's an automatic so placing it in gear will not work. What I'm tring to do is replace the water pump and the lower timing belt cover seems to only come out after the balancer removal. I've tried strap wrenchs but they slip.
Stupid question now. Are the harmonic balancer center nuts left or right hand threads?
Again Thank you GUYS.
I'm doing it myself because I've being unemployeed for 4 months now. No one hires a 50 year old anymore.

Hi there,
The nut is R/H and the best way for you to lock the engine is to remove the starter motor and lock the ring gear with a suitable lever.
