1986 Nissan 200SX My Nissan wont start out of nowhere.

Engine Mechanical problem
1986 Nissan 200SX 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 179000 miles

I was driving my nissan to work just turned left was heading down the hill when i noticed the accelator stopped working. I pumped it a few times with nothing so braked and pulled over to the side of the road. I then tried to pump it two times more and nothing. I turned the car off tried to turn it back on it would roll over but wouldnt do that final thing to start the vechicle it would just shake the engine getting ready to start but wouldnt start. I left it for 2 hrs tried it again and got nothing. There still is gas and battery life on the car but cant figure out how to get it started.

Hi Nathan,

Here are some thing to check.....

Check for Spark at the Plugs. Should be Bright Bluish/White. If no spark check for spark at coil if still no spark check for power to coil.

Check Cap and Rotor for Build up on contacts, if has build up clean and see if will start. If starts replace cap and rotor.

Check fuel pump - can you hear a buzz coming from the gas tank area that lasts for 2 - 3 seconds. If so check fuel pressure also check for clogged fuel filter(when was last filter change?).

Post findings......

.
