Gas pedal has no pressure

My car was shutting off until I took off the air filter to see if it would stop. Now I have no pressure in my gas pedal and the car is idling very high soon as I start it.

Can you please be a bit clearer for me?

Originally the engine was stalling? What was the problem to start with?

You removed the air filter to try and check and after you did this you have a different issue?
When you press the gas pedal nothing happens?

Sorry I just need to be sure what we are dealing with here.

If you can describe as best as you can I will try and advise you on what to check.
