Hi,

Can you give me a rough idea of what it is going to cost to replace the tie rods? Yesterday I purchased 4 new tires (w/alignment & balancing) and the tech told me my tie rods were in really bad shape and I needed to get them replaced. On the way home, my steering wheel was vibrating like all get out, but prior to getting new tires, I never noticed any vibration!

With new tires you are going to have a more square tread face, ie. More tire on the road. With thiis, you could get a wooble in the steering wheel if the tierod ends are bad. If this is the case, it will wear out your new tires in about 1/2 the time. There is nothing wrong with getting a second opinion. Cost wise, you are looking at $250 to $350 with an allignment. If you have the T ends changed, be sure you have the frontend alligned. Hope this helps.
