The brake booster on my mitsubishi montero is acting up. The dealer saide it would cost $1649.00 to repair this problem. Is there special tools to do this job or can an average auto mechanic repair this there self? If so can you shead any light on the repair. I do not mind donating if you can help me, but I do not like using my cc over the internet. THANK YOU TIM

I would have to know exactly which Montero it is, there are 7 of them. But for a Montero Sport LS the labor guide only calls for 2.2 hrs to change it. Mitchell says th epart is around $700.00. No special instructions, remove master, pin holding pedal to booster, 4 nuts holding it to the firewall. It should come right out

No, a booster is what helps with brake pressure, an accumulator is part of the ABS system

Hellow again Jack. The reason I am question this matter is because the person at the dealership rote down that it was a hydraulic brake booster on the paper and then told me that it was the accumulator. Do you have any information on the removal and instullatiou of the brake accumulator. Any input on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Do you know if there is any place I can get a repair manual or cd on the repairs for this vehical. THANK YOU Tim
