A new alternator was put in car in July, 2008. On Dec. 31, car went dead. Replaced battery. Drove ok for about 75 miles, went dead again. Replaced alternator again. Car has now went "dead" again. Lights started dimming, radio went in and out before it died. There has also been a squealing for the last week or so. Pulleys seem to be working. Any suggestions as to what it could be? Is there anything that would cause alternators to burn up?

Inspect your fusible links located under hood.
