1. Can I replace the alternator myself? Or do I need to take it to a mechanic?
2. There is clouds of white smoke coming from the exhaust while idling or driving at slower speeds. Can you give me an idea of what the problem could be

DIY on the alternator

No, it is not overheating. There is a oil leak that we are aware of and the seal was supposedly replaced to help with the leak and it just seems that ever since we did that it is smoking and losing oil more
