Engine Mechanical problem
1998 Mitsubishi Montero 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I lost my timing order or timing marks when I was trying to change my timing belt. Camshafts and crankshaft has been turned without timing belt. What should I do?

Hi there, This is an interference engine and valve damage will result in rotating the engine with out the belt, with that said, how far did the engine turn, there will be a small amount of lee way and you would feel the valves touch, i would pull the plugs and slowly turn the engine crank shaft and then the cams till the alignment marks are correct, if you feel resistance stop and back up a bit, if the engine has been cranked there will be valve damage done, when you get the belt on i would be doing a comp test to see if any damage has been done.
