1994 Mitsubishi Montero 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic alot miles

i have a oil leak while the vehicle is running its right above the oilpan where the crankshaft and belt meet the oil pan when the vehicleis running it drips/leaks right under the pully and belt by the oil pan. Is it the oil pan gasket? And if so what is the easiest way to get at that thing?

An oil pan gasket leak is possible, but given the location and the fact that it leaks while running, the crankshaft seal is the more likely culprit. And as you dig into this, you'll probably find the timing belt is oil-soaked (which has to come off to replace seal anyway), and other related components should be checked--water pump and tensioner, for sure. The job is not that difficult if you have some mechanical skills and tools--the hardest part is getting the crank pulley off. Once you open this up, my prediction is you'll find a number of things that should be replaced. Good luck
