REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
STARTER MOTOR
NOTE:It may be necessary to disconnect transmission oil cooler lines, air cleaner, engine undercover and/or front actuator assembly for starter removal.

Removal & Installation
Disconnect negative battery cable. If necessary, raise vehicle on hoist. On Montero and Montero Sport, remove engine under cover and skid plate, if equipped. Remove right engine mount heat protector. Disconnect and label vacuum hoses from transfer case shift actuator. Remove pin from actuator operating rod and remove actuator.
On all models, remove starter mounting bolts and starter. To install, reverse removal procedures. On Montero and Montero Sport, ensure vacuum hoses to actuator are properly attached (Blue hose to outside surface; Yellow hose to bottom of unit, under operating rod bellows).
