1999 Mitsubishi Galant Engine Size unknown Two Wheel Drive Automatic 152800 miles

I just bought this car yesterday and I only had it for 20 hours and my service engine soon light came on could that be because I dont have a gas cap?

Most likley, gas caps cost 5-6 bucks, a good saftey investment. Not to mention the evap system will not work, and thus the code!

Yeah the gas cap makes the light go on, but don't be surprised if it comes on even with a gas cap. I have an '02 and it has the light on all the time. When the code is read it still says gas cap. I also repalced the EGR and still the light
