What will cause vibration at speeds of 40 to 60 mph? It will do it all the time one day then the next it won't or it will start then stop. But lately its got bad.

HI there,

The first thing to do is get the tyres checked for and defects and get then rotated and balanced, repost if you still have a problem.

Have the same problem. After two new engine mounts (top was broken), two new front tires (one was bad), balanced and aligned problem persists. Since vibration ONLY occurred when accelerating (that should rule out tires, if so vibration would be constant) I was told to check front axle and cv joints. My car has 161K miles and front feels weak, so I will check struts too. Expensive little problem!

Upon further examination and review I found problem related to ATF breakdown that causes this problem at the specified speeds, when torque converter engages. Hope this helps, I will try this now.
