My vehicle has a lot of miles no doubt. It has been sitting now for over a year because I haven't had any luck troubleshooting my issue. First off, my linkage is not right. So when I brake my foot off the brake in drive, I get the loudest metal like popping sound there ever was coming from what seems to be from under my driver seat. The noise gets louder and faster when I accelerate. Sounds like a tummy gun if you will. When I come to a stop so does the sound. Mind you that my vehicle has a, nv244d transfer case with limited slip differential. I have replaced both CV axles and a couple u joints. I took the transfer case out and checked it out thoroughly, had it rebuilt last year because I couldn't find one anywhere! I miss my truck.

Hello,

This could be a problem with backlash somewhere in your driveline. It dosen't specifically have to be your U-joints, but it wouldn't hurt to start there. I have also included in the diagrams down below a troubleshooting diagnostic flowchart for both your vehicle's transfer case as well as the transmission. I have also included a "Noise" cause/fix chart in the diagrams. Please go through this information and get back to us with what you find out.

Thanks,
Alex

Thank you very much! Awesome! I will analyse these, compared to my issue. I haven't done much reading so far in backlash settings. But will now, thank you, I will keep you posted!
