Hi! I have a 2002 Mercury Villager Minivan. It has 110,000 miles approx. 6cyl. and the maintenence has been kept up on. The major tune ups were just done, the Timing belt/water pump replaced, and we keep up with all the regular maintence. The problem is we use it for commuting as well and going up the 14 freeway is a incline and im loosing power. It will slow down to 55 mph on the inclines and i will have the pedal to the metal...it doesnt have power. It just feels like it wont GO. Im not sure if this is an engine or a transmission problem and I would like to know where to start. The check engine light IS on and they always want to charge you just to read the problem!!

Well I'm not charging you...but you get what you pay for. First the codes need to be read. Second the problem can be narrowed down with a scanner hooked up to the computer and monitored while driving duriong the problem occurance. However we can take some expensive guesses if you want to forgo troubleshooting.
