A Few Questions about my 1994 Mercury Sable

Hello,

I have a 1994 Mercury Sable, with a 3.8L V6 engine. The engine has 137,109 miles on it as of today.

It was manufactured in October 1993.

Anyway, I have a couple of questions concerning it.

My key locks do not work anymore. They worked before the winter of 2007, but now they do not. When I insert the key and try to turn it left to unlock the door, it does not turn. I've used both a copy of the original key and the original key, but to no avail. The electric locks *do* work, but I can't unlock them from the outside. Do you have any idea what may be causing this?

I've been told it can be as simple as a fuse.

There is another problem, but it concerns the front passenger side window. It will roll down correctly using the control on the passenger side, but it will not roll up using that control. The only way to roll the window up is for me to open the driver's door at least halfway and then roll it up with the driver's control.

Would this be the result of a short or simply a burnt-out fuse?

It worked at one time, but suddenly stopped working, similar to the key locks.

Any help would be appreciated :)

Thanks,
Dustin

Spray some lube in the cylinder where you put the key in. Work it back and forth with the key, there could be built up rust preventing it from working correctly. Check the window control on the passengers side. The switch may have gone bad. To put the window up you have to open the drivers door? If so check the wires going to the drivers sdie control
