The brake lights on my sable do not work. I have replaced all bulbs with no luck. I also have trouble shifting out of park. Could this be my brake light switch?

Hello
Thanks for the donation

It sounds like you have hit the nail on the head, so to speak.

If you have a defective brake light switch, it will not allow you to shift if in an automatic car properly. As you know, you have to depress the brake to put the car in gear; with this broken your car does not know you are pressing the brake and doesn't send the signal to the interlock shifter system.

If you need assistance with replacing the switch, just reply to this post and I will follow up with instructions.

Thanks for using 2carpros. Com!

The brake light switch is located under the driver's side dash, upper front side of the brake pedal. The switch is just a simple plug-in device. There may be a rod blocking your access to the switch. Remove the pin holding the rod in place, slide the rod out a bit, then unplug and remove brake switch. Reverse for installation.
