I replaced the alternator and battery in my car after the battery light came on and my car shut down while driving. It was characteristic of a bad alternator. Howerver, the problem continued after I replaced the alternator with a brand new one. Is there anything else that can cause this problem?

Have you tested the charging voltage with the alternator in the car? If not, you need o do that first and post the results.

The voltage at the battery terminals is no different when the car is on than when it is off. I took the alternator for a bench test and the alternator and voltage regulator both tested out fine. I checked all fuses and they are OK also.

I seriously doubt that to be true. You have proven that the alternator works on the bench when the proper power supplies are put to it, yet it does not when in your car.
