the heat in my car stoped working today......i noticed that the temp gauge dosent go to half way, when i turn the heat on the needle goes all the way down to cold......

Check your thermostat. It could be stuck open.
Turn your car on, and grab the upper radiator hose; you should feel no coolant flowing thru it until the car reaches normal operating temperature. If you do feel coolant when your engine is still cold, your thermostat is bad and you need to replace it.
