I have a 1996 Mercury Sable LS. It's been having problems over heating and I just fixed a busted hose which seemed to work until now. I took it on the highway yesterday and now the car won't accelerate and the front end seems to be shaking. I've considered replacing the thermostat but I can't see to find it.
The engine is a Duratech 3.0, can someone help me?

Most likely a failed headgasket. White smoke from exhaust? Oil look weird? If yes then gasket

@Docfixit: the car is not smoking too much and the oil is fine. I had thought that the brakes or calipers could be sticking since it's been hot outside? However that would not be relevent to the car's over heating issue. What do you think?

Jack up front see if brakes drag that will answer that question. If white nsmoke from exhaust, engine miss on a.M. Startup and coolant loss no apparent leak all signs of failed headgasket
