I own a 1995 Mercury Mystique and it has started to do some strange things.

1. My rear defrost doesnt work.
2. My windshield wipers only go on and off. Won't change speed
3. Interior lights on the door and floor stay on while I am driving
4. Chime on the door doesnt work if I leave my headlights on and take the key out of the ignition.

Any ideas on where to start looking for the problem?

It sounds like you have a ground problem. Remove the battery ground, clean it shiny and the battery. Remove the ground to the engine, ffame and engine to fire wall. Clean them shniny and it should correct the problem. Good luck

I will definitely have that done over the weekend.

It seemed all these problems showed up after I had the car boosted as I had left the headlights on.

Will let you know how it goes.

I did get someone to look at my car tonight.

He disconnected the battery and cleaned the posts and I had cable that was loose.

He checked the fuses and the fuse for the rear defrost was no good and we replaced it.

All is working great now.

Whew. Thanks for helping out this "non mechanic" lady!
