When you step on the brake do the brake light come on?
Check fuses and also check the wires
in some cases when a car with remote starter
they cut into the brake wire with time that wire become loose
so if you do or did have a remote starter check that wire

This is the problem you have no power on the switch
u should have power on one of the wires at all times
and power on the other side when step on brake
check the wire if broke off at the connector check if you have power on one off the wires

(run a wire from the fuse box to the brake light switch for a temp fix) or
turn key to position 1
pull the shifter into neutral and then start
