When I start the car in the morning, about 15 seconds later, a machine gun noise is heard. If I let it alone, it goes away after about 15-30 seconds later. If I turn off the car, the noise remains until I turn the key one position, then the noise stops. It sounds electric to me as it happens when the car engine is not running.

Hi:
could it be related to the starter? Can you tell where the sound comes from?

Hi:
I still think it has something to do with the starter sticking on. I recommend that you remove the starter and check it. If I'm right, the teeth on the gear will be marked. With out hearing it myself, I can't think of anything other that would make a machine gun sound other than the teeth on the starter not fully retracting from the flywheel.
