Engine Mechanical problem
1996 Mercury Marquis V8 Automatic 224000 miles

I went out to start my car yesterday and it wouldn't start. It don't make any noise at all when I turn the key (other than the whirring sound of the fuel pump which is fine). The battery is fully charged. I'm trying a process of elimination to find out the problem. First I want to check the starter. Where is the starter located for a 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis 4.6L V-8 engine? Also, if you have any other thoughts, suggestions and ideas I'd welcome them all. Thanks in advance. (Note: The starter never gave any indication that it was on it's way out). P.S. Can I cross the cellunoid with a long screwdriver to see if it will start?

Could be a problem with the starter, starter relay, park and neutral switch, and ignition switch-

P.S. Can I cross the cellunoid with a long screwdriver to see if it will start? It will crank the engine over however if it has a fuel or spark problem the engine will not start
