Last night I went to start my car and heard a snap inside the steering column. I could not start the car but all of the dashboard indicators were lit up. I switched out the ignition cylinder & was able to start the car but was unable to turn it off. When I turn the ignition off it goes where it should but the car continues to run. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

Thank you for your feedback. I did change out the switch. Unfortunately, I still have the same problem. When I turn the key to the off position, the car does not turn off. What am I missing? Any other suggestions?

The snap was the white plastic ignition switch saying bye-bye! This is the plug in electrical switch, not the key, remove the column covers remove neg battery cable and wait 2 mins to deactivate the air bags, unplug the switch remove the two 5/16th screws holding it to the column, inspect for cracks. Replace as needed, or reinstall the push rod.
