My brakes just started making an awful noise and the guys at the body shop told me it will cost $700. The front brakes are metal to metal. He said they are going to try and re-use the calipers but replace the rotors. I swear I just had my rotors replaced 2 years ago. How much should the brake job cost?

Ok if you are metal to metal then rotors are trashed no mater what. Your calipers should be replaced too. Can you do this your self? If you would like to and have tools then I may be able to walk you through it. As for the cost of this kind of repair the shop is about right actually I came up with $798 using OEM parts. So if you call around to the parts stores and price a set of loaded calipers and a set of rotors and a can of brake clean and a quart of brake fluid as this is what you need to do the job right you will know how much you can save if you do it yourself. You will need to know if it has front wheel ABS or not. Hope this helps and Thanks and have a Merry Christmas.
