Hi, my 500sl is having wiring electrical problems partly because the previous owner had a bunch of stereo equipment in and partly because of some crumbling wiring insulation anyhow through this process and trying to find short this wire which is factory came loose from under dash I wes in drvrs seat, however this wire is very long so it could have came from passengers side or from back down console just not sure with all the non factory wiring from add'l speakers, boosters, amps, etc its a mess. It isnt affecting anything major that I can find as of yet. With the other wiring issues I dont know if I would notice. They are together in one small harness or connector ( female connector)

Hi there,

There are 100's of wiring diagrams to sort through, frankly if it is not causing you a problem and all systems are working I would not bother, is the plug a Benz looking harness plug or is it a cheap looking after market job, this may just be some left over radio wiring.

It is a mercedes wire and it does have several #'s on it. I don't believe it went to the factory stereo because all those were taped off and ziptied together. I say its not causing problems, but I really have no clue because im not sure what is really bad or just not qorking for moment due to electrical. From what im gathering this yr/model 93 500sl at 80,000 seems to have or develop wiring and air mass problems along with cooling system. Ive just ordered radiator and then I will have to address these issues. Depends on the day what works and what shorts. Today it seems like the alternator, but suppose it could be wires touching draining battery. Very frustrating. I have a wiring diagram not sure if this is the only one but I really cant read, but both these color wires independantly seem to go to cooling system in some capacity if im reading correctly and on pic it points in the vicinity of the passenger side around qhwre you would plug computer?Diagnostic in, but im not mechanic just been forced to figure out myself. Its a mess, but thank you for your time and help.

What this may be is a harness that is not in use in your variant, most cars have a single a single loom, with all the different ends, it's cheaper than making 5 or 6 or more separate looms, this just may be a plug that is not used in your model, if all the systems are working I would be thinking that this is just nit used on your model.
