My wife was driving her 1999 E320 when the acceleration would not allow her to go above 20 and the temp gage shot up. Now at the dealer, this is what they are claiming is required to fix the car:

Acceleration - control unit inside transmission ($1,275)
Overheating - thermostat ($360)
Oil leak in front of engine ($300)

Emission code alert - fuel tank pressure sensor ($435)

What do you think?

The trans control module could cause this condition definately and the thermostate could cause overheating. However the oil leak you have never seen may be excessive. Also the fuel tank pressure sensor would usually throw a check engine light if it is failed.
