I would like to replace the shocks on my e420 sport. Car is in great shape but needs shocks. I have self leveling - Do I need to replace with self leveling? They are costly and would like to know my options. - Thanks

Hello -

I have attached the info we have on the shocks. As you see it does show the with level control item 3 and without item 2.

The only problem I see if the self leveling system itself. There are still sensors/switches, the air hose/pump input that is a concern. It may cost you more in the long run to disconnect those items so the car doesn't throw a code thinking there is a problem.

It is best in this instance to check with the dealer parts department. Once you bring them your VIN in they can review all of the mods and other information that is applicable to your vehicle that we don't have access to.

I hope this gives you some idea. . .. . .. . .. . .

Hello -

Also, it looks like you may have some recalls on your vehicle. The dealer may fix these for free. Please contact the dealer service department, give them the VIN number of your car and have them check on these to see if they apply to you.
