2000 Mercedes Benz C280 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 55000 miles
I can't get my car doors to open with smart key and can't get the engine or any of the electronics to activate. Hence, cannot start car or remotely open doors

Have you tested the battery yet?

It sounds more like your key may be faulty. If the battery in the key is good or bad, it will still start the car reguardless. Since the car is not starting then I would say the key is bad. A bad key battery will not allow you to lock and unlock but will still start the car. Good luck -
