My check engine light came on. The Mercedes dealer ran a diagnostic and indicated the thermostat needed to be changed. I changed it myself and now can't figure out how to clear the CEL so I can see if that was the true problem. How do you clear a check engine light.

To clear your check engine light you will need an OBD 2 scanner which can be purchased at most auto parts stores. Connect scanner to OBD 2 terminal under the drivers dash. Near the hood release you will see a small door. Open the door and you will see the connector. Turn the key to the accessory on position (key position 2) and the scanner should initialize. From here you can read and clear codes according to the scanner directions.
