The Car has no "umph", the problem began two months ago, the car coughed and from that day forward it didnt have any power. If I punch the gas, the check engine light comes on and my car cant get over 40 miles per hour. We were told that a cylinder was blown, if this is so, how do I fix it?

Hi there,

Get a compression test done first, this will give a good indication as to cylinder / piston condition. If it back fired violently, it may have bent the throttle plate as well.
