Should the comp be engaged on eng run
i start car and few seconds after comp clutch cuts in
if not how does it engage/disengage
never realy sorted out how works

The compressor clutch engages and disengages based off of the ac pushbutton input. If the air conditioner is on the compressor will engage. However if the ac is off you should have no engagement of the compressor clutch. If you are getting engagement then you may have the begining signs of a bearing siezing in the compressor.
