Spark should be good now. I got spark from the coil wire while cranking. Hung a plug at cyl#5 got nothing. So I changed the ignition wires along with cap & rotor. I pull the plugs seem like normal wear & color. None were wet. Change spark plugs while I had them out. (All Bosch parts) I crack the fuel feed line at the fuel distributor and got a nice spray. Now here is what's baffling me. I poured some gas in intake via the air disk. I pushed it down so the gas flowed in. DIdn't fire. Also when I crank the engine (air cleaner off) That disk in the intake does not drop down. I believe the fuel distributor is being charged with fuel because when I push down on the disk there is equal resistance all the way down. I do not have access to a fuel pressure gauge set at this time. I do have experience with the VW CIS fuel injection & the old Volvos. I am pretty sure while cranking the engine the disk in the intake should drop a bit. Maybe an inch? PLEASE HELP!

Hi charlie
Disk should move the end of the lever is attached to a metering rod in fuel dist. As fuel pressure act on the dist the air flow moves disc and the rod allows more fuel to engine. Will need gague to diagnose. What happens if you loosen one of the lines to engine?
Let me know
Thanks for donate
When checking pressure pull pump relay jumper trem 7 and 8 76 to 79 psi also will disc move up?

DocFixit,
Thanks for the response! I am somewhat familiar with CIS. Metering rod. Low/high pressure acting on the lever/metering rod. But I have afew questions. With the correct fuel pressures should the cranking of the engine be enough to move the disk? Where is the fuel pump relay located? By the firewall? How many pins are on the relay? Are they round pins?

I will try to borrow a fuel press gauge set. Do I use the test port on the rightside of the fuel distributor?
Remove the plug and attach the hose for the gauge to the port?

Charlie

Hi
Disc should not move on startup the cold start valve will add fuel and the gap around disc is enough for startup. The gague set for this system is special don't know if generic will work. Connect gague to cold start line top of dist. Relay on bulk head the larger of two 12 pins and are round. Jumper B7 to B8 to check pressure. Spray some cabr cleaner into intake see if it runs.
